      I am still mulling, but it looks to me like there are deep structures at play, don't you think?

      Yes. My husb pointed out to me that it is interesting on the old maps both routes were not going through the Byzantine Empire as it then existed. There are similar dynamics going on now both with oil pipeline fights and the Belt and Road initiative

      I have tried repeatedly to reply and Blogger keeps throwing me out
      My husb pointed out that these maps indicate that at these times the Silk Route was not going through the Byzantine Empire
      It seems that today a similar conflict is going on over pipeline routes and the route of the Belt and Road initiative, with the descendants of the Ottomans at front and center in terms of very aggressive activity in this respect

Our Lady and the Old Infant

The convener of one of the Jordan Peterson Facebook groups that I participate in has been pushing me for some time now to be more compassionate towards our professorial “father.” Or, as my friend puts it: “to take off your fencing gear and model the Nourishing Feminine.” Okay, then, but I have to warn you. It is going to hurt. What do I see when I look at Jordan Peterson with a mother’s eyes? I should preface my reflections with the caveat that I speak here not just as the mother of a son, but also as an historian. Reading the textual accounts left by people about their thoughts and emotions is what I do in my scholarship. Just as Jordan has spent the past thirty years as a clinical psychologist, I have spent them as a reader of texts,* my goal as an author being to help the texts speak to audiences for whom they no longer mean anything. Milo, like everything he talks about, is polarizing . "Are you the real, true face of the alt-Right? Because I thought the Nazis were in there.
